The client

Canalside are a family run farm that has been growing its own produce for over 40 years.

It was back in 1983 that they bought a small holding in Great Haywood and planted their first strawberries that spring. From the beginning they have provided soft summer fruits, kitchen vegetables and garden plants directly to businesses across the region, and also to the local community from their Farm Shop - one of Staffordshire’s first!

The farm shop now includes its own butchery, artisan bakery and deli counter, alongside a café by the water and pick your own strawberries through the summer. Canalside was named Large Retailer of the Year in the Midlands at the Farm Shop & Deli Show 2023 and Small Farm Shop of the Year 2020 at the Farm Retail Association Awards.

What we built

We designed and built the Canalside Farm website around everything there is to do on the farm, with sections for the Farm Shop, Café, Local Suppliers, The Farm and Recipes. The What's On area lists seasonal events and workshops, and visitors can check availability and book sessions online.

We also added a hamper request form, walking and cycle route guides that start at the farm gate, and a newsletter sign-up for news about events and what's fresh in the shop.
